First Coast Technical College (FCTC) is located in St. Augustine, Florida. The school began as the St. Augustine Technical Center in 1965. The school as formed as response by the St. Johns County school boards assessment that a technical/career college was necessary to serve the counties of Putnam, St. John and Clay. The school began by offering a single program in nursing, located at Flagler Hospital. Plans for a permanent location went into effect in 1967 and the school had its first graduating class in 1968. The school changed its name to First Coast Technical Institute in 1999 to reflects its role as the state's first post-secondary charter school. By 2007 the school again changed its name, this time to the current, to better reflect its offerings and evolving needs of the community.
Academics
First Coast Technical College provides 2 year educations in a variety of in demand fields. Students enrolled in such programs will be given the experience and skills necessary to operate successfully in a work environment. Programs couple academic and technical educations, as well as practical courses designed to provide a controlled work atmosphere to better prepare students. The faculty is comprised of former and current professionals, all of whom dedicated to providing students the best education possible.

Admissions and Financial Aid
FCTC has an open admission policy for any student who may benefit from career or technical training. Each program has its own requirements regarding age and education. Interested students should review their program of interest's requirements prior to applying. Financial aid is available in the form of grants and loans. Interested students should review their financial information, complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and submit it to the FCTC financial aid office. Once the application and relevant documents are supplied, the school will review the material and award funds accordingly.
